My trip started with a childhood friend’s wedding. We celebrated a weekend full of festivities, one day in the Agafay Desert and another at the beautiful Beldi Country Club in Marrakech. I then decided to stay an extra week to explore the city, since the last time I was there was five years ago.
The Agafay Desert & Beldi Country Club
For the first couple of days, I stayed at Riad Zayan, a private boutique riad nestled in the heart of the old Medina, that opened just a few weeks ago. Sleeping in the Medina is quite impressive; very hectic during the day but very calm at night. The Fajr prayer wakes you up before sunrise since the mosque is near, offering a unique sensation and appreciation of the culture.
As a Health and Well-being Consultant, I aimed to find ways of enjoying the city as well as a touch of relaxation and rejuvenation. I discovered a few gems, one of which was Les Bains de Tarabel, which a friend recommended I try out. It’s a peaceful spa in a beautiful hidden riad inside the Medina. Entering there felt like entering a quiet sanctuary with lovely fragrances, amongst some of my favourites: Fleur d’Oranger, Citronelle and Verveine.
The Spa Manager Arkia was there to welcome me, a remarkable woman who ran the place with every care and attention. I took the opportunity to try out a few of their signature treatments, starting with the Ancestral hammam experience, followed by the back and foot reflexology and last but not least, the revitalizing radiance facial treatment based on floral rose water. I left there with an incredible feeling and wanted to recommend this place to everyone!

For the rest of my stay in Marrakech, I stayed in Riad Soumaya, a beautiful boutique lodge outside the city. This was magical: the place, the people, the meals, the vibe, the spa… I have no words to describe the feeling it gave me. It was a fantastic place to end my stay in Marrakech.
The combination of 2 days in the Medina and 2-3 days outside the city gives the perfect City Break/Sunny Holiday feeling, which I highly recommend.
