Must-See Hotels in Norway

If you’re looking for a distinctively Scandinavian experience for your next holiday, take a look at some of the hotel escapes we’ve laid out for you below. All these hotels provide top-quality service and special experiences to make the most of Norway’s countryside, its traditions and its food.

Manshausen

The Manshausen hotel is located on a 14-acre private island off the north-western coast of Norway (and close to the famous Lofoten archipelago). The island has historic trading roots and was once a gateway for the salted fish trade to the rest of Europe! Today you can still enjoy excellent fishing, as well as a plethora of other activities including kayaking, scuba diving, hikes and rock-climbing.

Manshausen’s award-winning accommodation – with 40 architectural awards – comprises seven Sea Cabins. These cabins have been designed to place your connection with nature at the heart of your experience, with panoramic glass windows, simple design and minimal electronics.

The wider property includes the Main House which houses the Library, a kitchen and the Restaurant. At the Restaurant, guests will find dishes made with high-quality, local, seasonal ingredients for a true taste of Norway. Also on the property are conference facilities, as well as a a hot tub and sauna to help you fully embrace your idyllic surroundings…

Juvet

In a prime sightseeing location, Juvet blends into its natural surroundings while making use of ingenious architectural design.

The award-winning hotel comprises three forms of accommodation. ‘Landscape Rooms’ – independent glass-walled cubes, elevated off the ground with stilts, that offer expansive views of the surrounding countryside. ‘Bird Houses’ – small cabins of glass and wood that provide a small, minimalist hideaway. And the ‘Writer’s Lodge’ – akin to a chalet with two bedrooms, communal space and landscape windows that draw your gaze to the outdoors.

At Juvet you will find a restaurant using local and seasonal ingredients, and the Bathhouse with a steam sauna, hot tub, silent room and a panoramic view out to the countryside.

You can also take advantage of multiple activities on offer such as river rafting, fjord kayaking, canyoning and ski touring. There’s plenty to choose from!

Storjford

Describing the set-up as a “Scandinavian folk tale”, the team at 5-star Storjford Hotel are right on the money. Situated on a hillcrest in Alpine Norway, you can enjoy a real feeling of seclusion and natural beauty here.

A large, idyllic log cabin houses you for your stay, with various suites and rooms and luxury touches. The hotel’s décor combines traditional Norwegian elements with modern design, curated art and antiques.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy – from fjord cruises to wildlife sea safaris, visiting local food farms, helicopter tours and more. And when you’re ready for some deep rest, step into the hotel’s Wellness Areas which include a sound-bathing lounge, outdoor jacuzzi, a sauna with views of the woods and various spa treatment offerings.

Holmen Lofoten

Welcome to Holmen Lofoten, nestled on a remote collection of traditional fisherman’s cabins on the shores of the Lofoten Islands. This small, family run hotel and seasonal restaurant set above the Arctic Circle is open mid February to mid December and offers guests the chance to enjoy excellent fishing and a range of exciting activities, including kayaking, scuba diving, hiking, and cycling.

The accommodation is truly exceptional, featuring a combination of suites, rooms and cabins, each designed to connect you with the natural and wild beauty of the surrounding sea and mountains.
